I enjoyed this video very much. Sam Berns seems like a very sweet guy and I'd love to get the meet him. His philosophy on how to live ah happy life seems very effective. Since he lives with a rare disease I can't image how hard life can come to be for him. I'm sure kids his age who are fighting the same disease are very depressed and upset. Sam inspires me to live a happy life and to not get upset over the little things in life. I am glad that he is happy and lives a good life, he has inspired me to strive and be the happiest i can be. I also agree with his last piece of advice of how to live a happy life, 'never miss a party if you can help it.'
I enjoyed watching this video. I really like Sam's philosophy about living a happy life. I love how he doesn't focus on the things he can't do and he focuses more on the things he can do. His philosophy on living a happy life inspires me to enjoy life and not focus on the little things that would bother me. I agree with all of the advice he gives and it helped me to see I can make the best out of things even if there are bad times in my life just like he can with the disease he is fighting.
I really enjoyed watching this video. It was very inspiring to see someone like Sam with this disease and being happy with life. His philosophy about being happy is very inspirational. Sam has many obstacles in his life but he doesn't let anything stop him. He has his family and friends that give him a lot of support.
Watching this video was very inspiring. Seeing that Sam wanted to play the snares so badly but couldn't, did not stop him from reaching for his dream. Although there are things he is not able to do, he is still able to live his life with joy. He focuses on what he can do and doesn't think negatively. The philosophy he shares is an eye opener for me because I should be grateful for the things I am able to do and always make the best out of everything.
After watching this video it made me think about so many things but mainly how blessed I am. I now realize that I should not be complaining so much about how I look or who I am. I know that God made me in his image and I need to thank him for that. Sam has made me open my eyes because I would always think negative about things. What he said was very true and I admire him for that. Knowing who he is and living with a disease he still maintains to be a positive role model for everyone. He said that there will be many obstacles in life but those can either make you stronger or get in your way. But ultimately the choice is yours you decide. Overall I really liked the three steps he follows because they are very straight to the point. I know if I take them into consideration I can be a successful person and not only physically but mentally as well. To me Sam Berns is a very brave person and with disability he still accomplished his dream. And with that said he made me realize that there shouldn't be any excuse on why I shouldn't be able to reach mine!
Sam has provided me with a new outlook on life. I now see attaining a happy life more simply. Sam exemplified that even the most threatening of diseases cannot hinder someone from obtaining their dreams. Many people probably sympathize people with Sam's disease and see their disease a boundary that will constantly get in the way of him living a normal and independent life, but I disagree. I actually see his disease as an advantage over most people in the world. Often we humans tend to dwell on the things we cannot change and the things that are seem to be "blocking" us from our desires. Sam, in contrast, will always accept he cannot change his condition and push himself to find alternate routes to obtain his desires. Knowing that things will not be handed to him and that his days will be limited ultimately provides him with a drive that will always contribute to his happy and successful life. The philosophy that Sam presented taught me that we all have the potential to change the world. Not even the most detrimental diseases can get in the way of being prosperous, it is ultimately up to us to persevere through our challenges and never cease to work towards the destination we would like to reach.
I often think that life is hard for me for there's always so many harsh things, as I think, happen to me. I have to say that I'm may not be as happy as it seems, I am always struggling with different stuff, such as my grades, my relationship, my family... But after watching this video, I do get some inspiration that my life is so nice for I am healthy and have a sweet family. There's people, like Sam, has lived with such disease but they still try to explore the joy and happiness of life. His words, his way of life, makes me feel hopeful, and even guilty for my negative thoughts. Why should I be upset? I've already got a lot in my life. Sam tends to push himself and gets over his difficulties. I admire his positive attitude and hopefully I will think the way he thinks, do the things he does. Alex Yuan
The video was really inspiring. Through Sam's talking, it is easy to see that he lives in a happy life and in the way he likes. He has a positive attitude and the ability to set up goals in his life. I learnt that we should not always focus on the negative side, because obstacles are inevitable on the way cheasing our dreams. When we meet difficulties, what we need to do are believing in ourselves and continuing hard working. Life is controlled by us and we have to try the best to live in a happy life.
After watching this video, a lot of things just come up to my mind. I like the way how he listed the aspects and advice of his philosophy for a happy life very much, because they are very clear and straight to the point. In my life, I think I always focus on the things that I can't do more than that I can, but Sam's words encourage me to appreciate and be grateful to my life because of so many things that I can do. And I should also be thankful to my families who always support me and to friends who are always there for me. The aspect that stands up most to me is that keep moving forward. There may be bad things that will upset me in my life, but I should not waste my energy to those things. Life will always move on and we should also move on because time will not stop and all we can do is to catch up its steps. His words and his attitude are very inspiring. I learnt a lot. -Grace Li Block A
This video was very inspiring. Sam's philosophy about living a happy life has really inspired me to live a happy life and always strive for the best in everything I do. It has also inspired to be thankful for the things I have including friends and family. Sam was very positive throughout the video which has inspired me to be a positive person as well and always look at the bright side of things. This video has helped me to be grateful for life and the things I have in life.
Sams philosophy on life has helped me open my eyes to many difficulties me and my family face on a daily basis. My mom has end stage renal disease which makes a lot of are daily tasks as a family harder. Sam's second step of his philosophy is to not focus of the stuff you can't do but focus on the stuff you can do. This has help me realize that my family is always so focused on the stuff my mom isn't able to do but we never really cherish the time we are able to spend with her or how her having this disease has brought our whole family closer. Hopefully showing this video to my family will help us change our view on happiness in life.
There is no doubt that Sam has lived a very difficult life and has had it rough for the 17 years he's been on this Earth. The way that I see Sam is as a strong, confident, and truly happy person. His very rare condition does not stop him from being happy and I believe that is a characteristic we all should have. Unfortunately, my grandmother is suffering from cancer for the 6th time. Like Sam, I need to realize everything that I have and be positive and thinking happy thoughts. This video and learning about Sam's struggle shed a new light on the person I want to be and achieve my full potential of being happy, just like Sam
